Ayurvedic Treatment for Acidity

“Acidity” happens when gastric glands in the stomach, increases the production of the Acid level.

The stomach produces essential acid to break down the food particles into smallest form, so that it helps to digest the foods.

Acidity is increasing the production of acid, In Ayurveda we called it “Pitta”. Pitta is a necessary element in our stomach. The main task of Pitta is to digest the foods. This Pitta is available in our stomach or Amasya in Ayurveda.

Pitta, in modern language we say it is Hydrochloric Acid and some enzymes that are available in Amasya or stomach that will break our food particles into smallest particle.

If the Pitta is in Normal level, then the food will digest properly. If the level is more than the normal level, then it will burn the food.

Like when we cook our food, we burn the food in our gas in normal level, so that our food will made properly, and the taste also good. Like that when our food will burn more than the necessity level, it will destroy our food.

Similarly, when our stomach increases the pitta level, we called it “AMLA PITTAM” in Ayurveda. Pitta is necessary for our body but that should not be AMLA.

In Amasya or Stomach has a mucus layer, When the acid increases the production level, it started damaging the mucus layer. When this situation occurs, we conclude it as “AMLA PITTAM” or “Acidity” or “Hyper Acidity”.

Acidity or Hyperacidity or Gastritis is interrelated with “AMLA PITTAM” in Ayurveda Science.

The main cause of increasing the Acid or PITTA is, when you eat more acidic type food such as sauce, spicy foods, drinking Coldrinks while eating, smoking, more alcohol consumption, irregular eating habits, stress, regular consumption of non-vegetarian foods, in this case acidity increases.

When you eat lunch or dinner and immediate, you sleep, the food is not digested, in this case acidity is increased. Enough sleep also most important, if you don’t sleep on time, that can also cause of increasing Acidity, if you have constipation problem, it can increase the acidity.

If you work more time in sun exposer or less intake water also can be the main cause of Acidity and Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID’s) also make prone to gastric acidity.
